Thanks Ahoy for a disastrous holiday !! You weren't contactable when we needed you and most of the information you gave us was wrong. To start with, you told us the hotels you booked for us were no more than 15 mins from the airport. Wrong..all journeys were over 1hr and 20mins. You told us not to take much currency, that it would be wiser to get it at the destination. As a result we didn't have enough money to pay the taxi fare. Had to take my life in my hands and cross the main street in Shanghai to get money from an ATM ( lost my card in the ATM ). Had to jump the queue in our hotel to exchange money on my only other credit card. Taxi fare cost over £40. Again to Shanghai Airport for our flight to Xian, another £40. You gave us the wrong information for our flight to Xian. We were at the airport at the crack of dawn, but the flight wasn't until the afternoon..6 wasted hours at the airport. Two hours on the tarmac in a swealtering plane ( all civil flights were grounded ) we eventually arrived in Xian 7pm ( only a 2 hour flight by the way )...another £40 taxi fair to the hotel. Great, now just needed our room to sleep. No such luck. The hotel informed us we weren't due for another month and after 3 and half hours trying to contact you ( no such luck ) we were offered a room for the 2 days, but that we would have to pay.
Back to Xian Airport another hour's drive and another £40. Towards the end of our stay in Hong Kong, tried to book our seats with Virgin for our flight home. I was informed that no flights left on the day you'd made our booking for, and so our holiday was cut short by a day. We had to pay £60 for our seat allocation, only to be told at the check-in that they were allocated to someone else. So my Wife and I had to sit apart for the journey home. Would I book with Ahoy Cruises again ? Certainly not. They're only interested in selling their wares. Not interested after that and certainly don't take the trouble to check the fine detail of their product.

Having booked a cruise/fly holiday we were persuaded to upgrade our flight home. The agent (Bimal) upgraded our seats on a flight for the day AFTER the end of our holiday. This happened late on a Friday afternoon & dispite trying countless times we were unable to contact him until Monday. His immediate response "that's your fault" & told us it would cost a further £200 each to correct his mistake. We refused & added an extra night at our hotel. The problem went on for weeks with Ahoy gradually reducing the cost ie £150 each, £75 each until finally a week before our departure we had a call to tell us we could go back to our original flight at no extra cost. I feel the man we dealt with (who we were told was in charge) was trying to make money at are expense. I am now getting emails from ebookers asking how my trip was so presumably he booked our flight through them. My verdict avoid at all costs.

Very poor service when things go wrong. We had a 4 night break in Bali then flying to Singapore for our cruise but because of volcanic ash cloud the flight booked by Ahoy cruises didn't fly so we missed our connection for our cruise . Ahoy so only help was to tell us there were flights WE could buy at 21.30 hrs from Bali to Kuala Lumpur only problems was the plane was taking off at the same time as they sent us the email!!! .We had to pay for 7 days accommodation plus £650 for flights to Singapore to catch our flight home to London . To me a cruise company should look after you , not leave you to sort things out yourself . The stress was dreadful . Ann Bailie
