Avoid this company at all costs!! I ordered a car from Lidl - Pinner to take as I had purchased a sewing table and the box was too heavy for me to carry. I was quoted £7 (normally £5 for a cab to West Harrow). When the car arrived (7 seater) we loaded the box in the boot and then the driver informed us that the cost would be £10.50 because the box was large! I was flabbergasted that the price had increased by £3.50 - I rang back Abbey Cars to the person I spoke with to ask why I was being charged this amount. To my surprise she told me that I should have told her that I had a large item so she could quote me the correct price. I told her that as a new customer having never had the need to use this cab service...I have no idea what the rules and regulations are and therefore sure luck the onus should be on the operator to ask the customer about the size of their shipping? She then got quite abrupt and advised me that she would charge £7 and would pay the additional £3.50 from her own pocket. She said she would call the driver to let him know this. When I got back in the car the phone call came through on speaker and a conversation ensued in an Indian language!? The driver angrily told us that he was refusing to take the job and he removed my items from the car! I was so shocked at his behaviour! This was no way to treat a customer! I called back abbey cars but I could not get through! I then made alternative arrangements - which actually cost £5 - so I am grateful I didn’t waste my money on abbey cars! Shocking service! Will NOT use this company in the future!
